Barbara Barrie plays YETTA in HARVEST.  Barbara’s been in the public eye since the mid-50s.  She won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival in 1964 for her role in the groundbreaking film ONE POTATO, TWO POTATO.  We also know her from her Academy Award nominated performance in BREAKING AWAY, where she plays the mother of Dave the “Italian” cyclist.  Her most popular TV roles include the wife of BARNEY MILLER, and the funky grandmother in SUDDENLY SUSAN.  There are dozens of other film, television, and Broadway credits, too.

As Yetta, Barbara Barrie plays a grandmother, wife, and mother in the mid stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.  She wanders the family house and wanders through the movie.  The character is both written and interpreted with humor and poignancy, a gentle and realistic balance that offers a sensitive portrait.

Barbara’s most important prop was a small notebook she would carry around and doodle in while filming.  The character of Yetta is now synonymous with this notebook.

I am a Madison resident, and my mother has dementia. In addition, I am the Marketing Director for an Alzheimer’s/Memory Care residence on the shoreline—so I am interested for many reasons, and eager to know when the film is going to be released, and if I can be involved in any way in promoting the film in any way.
